St George's Tavern
Yet another pub in Ruislip to have changed its name.
This pub is situated in the unit that was, for many years, a butchers shop (with many names) in Ruislip Manor, next door to what was the Co-Op, and latterly T A S and now Best One - a convenience store.
Set up as a pub in around 1990 it opened as "The Sportsman" and had an Irish theme to it. Closing briefly in around 2000 it came back as Fox's and has shed its Irish flavour, now it is St George's Tavern, and less Irish you can't get!!
Small inside and something of a locals pub it used to offer live music and live football, sometimes both at the same time, but the music has finished (2008)
Where it is, by road
In the centre of Ruislip Manor on Victoria Road. No car park, local street parking or pay and display just up Linden Avenue (almost opposite).

The Tavern is now owned by the same family that run the Black Bull. The thick curtains have long gone and so has the live music (I think due to complaints about the noise when it was Fox’s). There’s no real ale but folks who want that go to Wetherspoon’s.
The place could do with some sprucing up but it has a loyal band of regulars.

Anything special?
Very thick curtains.
