Ruislip Lido
Please note the following about Ruislip Lido:-
There is no charge to get in
It does not close, access is possible 24hrs a day seven days a week
It is not recommended that you go there after dark, for your own safety, but it does not have a reputation for trouble locally, day or night
Swimming is not allowed, indeed the quality of the water is poor. Though nobody stops you there are no lifeguards
You cannot drive your car in to the Lido environs, but there is a car park next to it
If you do not like Canada Geese then do not go there, there are loads of them.
You may NOT have a BBQ there.
Ruislip Online is NOT "THE Lido"! Questions such as, can I bring my dog, jet ski, filming equipment, have a wedding etc. should be directed to Hillingdon Council who own the Lido
Please note that generally folk in Ruislip call it the Lie'do NOT Lee'do
The following are available:-
There is a beach, so you can do "seaside things"
There is a (new 2008) "Splash Pad" so if it is nice weather take a swimming costume for the kids and let them have fun
There are children's rides, of the type you would find in a local park
At certain times you can buy snacks and ice creams from the shop near the railway
There is a pub there, The Waters Edge
By far the highlight is Ruislip Lido's Railway, run by volunteers, it is a must.
Its a fantastic walk (a stroll around the Lido regardless of the time of year is a joy). Allow about 90 minutes for a circuit.
There is car parking at the end of Reservoir Road, and it is free (correct mid-2008)!
The H13 bus goes there, the 331 stops close by.
It is about 1.6 miles on foot around the Lido on the main path
